The Deities of Kaldosa are not true gods in the traditional sense, but rather are beings that have grown so powerful that they have claimed the title of god and proclaimed themselves the rightful rulers of the planet. Despite most of them being beasts in their natural form, many of them have chosen to take on humanoid forms to make it easier for their followers to accept them.
Arcturus (arc - TUR - us), God of Darkness (Former)
Eldest among the Immortals to claim godhood, Arcturus is a cruel and narcissistic being who prizes power, fear, and betrayal. While his mortal guise is that of a richly adorned aristocrat, his true form is a terrifying creature the size of a dragon, but with jet black feathers and a serrated beak. After he attempted to overthrow the other Deities at the end of the Divine Wars, Arcturus was banished into the Void and has since been manipulating the world only through a dedicated cult known as The Death Priests.
Aye ( I ), Goddess of War
Hot blooded and absurdly vain, Aye prizes indulgence, blind rage, and bloodshed among other anarchical things. Preferring the form of an exotic beauty with vibrant red irises and short cut silver hair, Aye is known for wearing scandalously small amounts of gladiatorial armor into battle, and prefers the use of hand claws so she can feel the blood flow from her opponents. In her natural form Aye is a blood red falcon with metallic beak and talons, and is commonly seen flying over a battle field to observe the carnage. Aye is served by many Slaad, as well as a berserkers from all cultures.
Dynn (d-YIN), God of Deception
Known for his greed and love of scheming, Dynn considers subtlety, lies, and theft to be the staples of strength and virtue. In his mortal guise, Dynn is many different faces and bodies, preferring an incognito approach to mingling with the mortals. When going into battle, or on the rare occasion of meeting one of his more dedicated followers, Dynn will assume his natural form as a giant horned cobra. Looking more like a dragon without its legs or wings, Dynn's natural form is a truly terrifying one. Dynn is faithful served by thieves, brigands, and aristocrats alike, though few of the latter would admit it publicly.
Ishira (i SHEER ah), Goddess of the Arcane
Being the youngest of the Immortals by a long shot, Ishira is somewhat aloof and contemplative, having still not come to terms with her position in the world. She holds civility, knowledge, and of course magic to be the most pertinent virtues. Having originally been a Laithian, Ishira's nature form is that of an attractive woman appareled in the traditional Laithan robes, however she has learned to manifest herself as a pair of eyes floating in shimmering air, and occasionally does so to help remind her followers that she is no longer to be questioned and debated as if she were a mortal ruler. Her followers generally encapsulate the Laith race as well as any others that choose to pursue the power of arcane magic.
Emeros (EM er os), God of the Elements
Impulsive and passionate, Emeros controls the natural forces of the world, and as such promotes life, vibrancy, and harmony amongst his followers. When he wanders amongst the mortals Emeros typical appears as a man in a brown cloak, with soft gray eyes, and a distinctive full body tattoo. His true form can best be described as a werewolf, which he generally prefers unless he's around the sentient races. His followers range from druids and rangers, to elemental mages and summoners.
Rae (Ray), Goddess of Love
Compassionate and doting toward her followers, Rae encourages selflessness, devotion, and hospitality. She typically takes the form of a child with long white hair, and lavender eyes, though she has been known to appear as an adult woman with the same traits, from time to time. Her true form is that of a gryphon approximately the size of a horse, though outside of a mortal emergency, she has seldom been known to assume it. Her followers tend to be acolytes, wandering priests, or well to do nobles, though some commoners also prefer to serve her.
Ramos (RAW moes), God of Mischieve
Jovial and carefree, Ramos is generally look down on by the other deities due to his lack of ambition or care for the future. He actively engages in entertainment, feasting, and carousing, and strongly encourages such amongst his followers. Practical jokes and general debauchery are high on his to-do list, which he will happily work on while in his mortal guise of a rotund barkeep. In his true form, which he generally only assumes if he has become too drunk to maintain his morphing magic, he is a koala like being with a prehensile tail and long nimble fingers. He gathers followers all across the world, being quite popular amongst the common masses as well as a few decadent nobles.
Sairi (SIGH re), Goddess of Justice
An intense and domineering Immortal, Sairi demands law, discipline, and honor amongst those who would strive to serve her. Clad in polished steel and adorned with a regal cape, she herself adheres to the same rigorous discipline that she requires. Being one of the most powerful Immortals she can usually deal with any issues in her mortal guise; however, when required, her true form is devastating on the battle field. Seeming to be a bizarre crossbreed between a rhino and a bear, she has repeatedly demonstrated her fearsome presence in the face of unrelenting foes. Her followers tend to be soldiers, knights, and others dedicated to order.
Tridurian (try DUR ian), God of the Arcane (Former)
Wise and Calculating, Tridurian always was the most cunning of the deities, and is the only being to have ever seen through one of Dynn's schemes. While he supported many of the same virtues as Ishira now promotes, Tridurian had more ambition and cultivated a thirst for more amongst his followers. Tridurian sacrificed his powers as a deity in order to save his love, Ishira, from a plot laid down by Arcturus. In so doing, he both elevated Ishira to Immortality, and drained himself of magical power, thereby sealing himself into his true form. Resembling an enormous dog, with frills like a lizard, and a maw full of teeth, Tridurian still stands by Ishira acting as her guardian and counselor. With only a rare exception, Tridurians followers began serving Ishira after her ascension out of respect for their former deity's sacrifice.
Vania (VAW knee uh), Goddess of Light
Benevolent and motherly, Vania favors faith in what is right, beauty in all its forms, and pacifism as a way of life. Vania appears to her followers equally as an elegant woman in pristine apparel, and in her true form as a white tiger. She spends most of her time teaching and enjoying the lush trappings about the High Temple constructed for her by her zealous followers. Most of the Ry'El race, as well as physicians and sages across the world faithfully follow Vania.
Vaugdar (VAWG dar), God of Darkness
Both Sadistic and psychotic, Vaugdar revels in pain, disease, and death. While his lack of subtlety or cunning make him less dangerous than his predecessor, his complete insanity make him unpredictable and leaves the people of Kaldosa on edge, wary of an unprovoked attack at any moment. When he walks amongst the mortals, Vaugdar can generally be pick out by his sharp teeth, brutish figure, and the barbed chain hanging from his left arm. When he is seen on the battle field he will almost always maintain his true form as a three armed mutant giant with ashen skin and monstrous weapons. Having been a lieutenant under Arcturus before his Exile, Vaugdar scooped up many of his former commander's followers, some willingly, some through coercion, but most through threats and torture. Those who willingly serve Vaugdar tend to be cutthroats and villains that shun the open streets and seldom let their true allegiance be seen.
Voska (VO skuh), God of Ways
Seen by many as sociopathic and arbitrary, Voska promotes exploration, observation, and balance. Voska's origins are unknown and none have claimed to see his true form. Typically he appears as a man in a rich blue cloak, and a black face wrap revealing only his eyes. Voska controls space and dimensions through magics the other deities do not understand. It was through this magic that Voska was able to open a rift into the Void through which the other deities forced Arcturus during the Exile. Though many of Voska's followers are scribes and scientists, there is also an elite clan of assassins that serve under him as the Keepers of Balance.
